AUTUMN GRACE

leaves of bleeding hearts
now gold
so do broken hearts mend
so does grief heal

Time Of Singing (1996)

Time Of Singing was one of the first print journals to review and accept my haiku. This journal was founded by Dr. Benjamin P. Browne in 1958. Charles A. Waugaman was the editor from 1964-65, and from 1980-98. Then Lora Homan Zill became editor. TOS has a long history, and the new Winter 2018/19 issue is from Volume 45 (Number 3).

We live in Wisconsin, near Lake Michigan. Our winters are long and our summers are short. The autumns and springs are also beautiful. Each month has its own character. I remember the moment of this poem. The light is beautiful all year – the yard, the way it falls in a room, and inspires poems and prose.

Cold

Icebergs along the shore, and ice in the waters of Lake Michigan.  No waves.  Steam rises from the lake and is part of the clouds.  Much of the sky though is a clear blue.

Some of the same life lessons returned in 2018, in another health way. I am grateful for kind and good care. This is a new life chapter.
