Bleeding Hearts: Photo and Poems

Poems From Oostburg, Wisconsin

This is another beautiful photo by Karl from yesterday.

Poems from my archives, inspired by bleeding hearts:

old photos
on my desk —
bleeding hearts in bloom

Published first inTime Of Singing(1994). Also reprinted with the poems selected for myPoet Profileat The Haiku Foundation.

AUTUMN GRACE

leaves of bleeding hearts
now gold
so do broken hearts mend
so does grief heal
Autumn grace

Published by Bell’s Letters Poet, SMILE, and WestWard Quarterly.

will begin in small ways

These are new haiku, posted recently at Poems From Oostburg, Wisconsin. I write practice poems often. This is a longer journal poem:

all the changes
and new blessings

with time

so much I no longer
think about too much

what stays and grows?

unconditional love
the growing light
of this day

my own path with poetry

This is one of my grief poems, and it was published in Bell’s Letters Poet awhile ago.

February 2019: Some poems are simply gifts. Here are a few more of my poems that seem to belong with this poem. Here and there, I am working on a new large print chapbook. Our first large print book is Quiet Christmas Poetry (2014).

clouds and yet
enough light
to fill a jam jar
with the last
of the carnations

roses in the sun
some ending
some beginning
and some in full bloom
good to grow older

losses in life
low setting sun
through branches of trees
now rises again
as birds quietly sing

Creative Note: Poems From Oostburg, Wisconsin

Happy Summer, from the Midwest, USA.  I enjoy following the seasons around the world.

For new readers here, my primary blog is Poems From Oostburg, Wisconsin.

The garden is growing, and you are welcome to visit my Oostburg, Wisconsin site.  Yesterday, I saw rose petals on the ferns.

I’ll repost some of the photos I took yesterday – my haiku photos.
