Kitchen Poems

In my post, Small Study Poems, I reprinted poems inspired by my study. These are some poems from the kitchen, over the seasons and years.

preparing a meal
of fresh vegetables
New Year’s Eve

morning work
in the kitchen
porch lights shine
on cotoneasters
covered with snow

March sunrise
shadows of trees
on cedar garage

washing dishes
a rabbit plays
in the garden

poems we read
again and again
washing an old plate
the pattern
still new

early June
ferns as tall
as the garden chair

open window
over the kitchen sink
cool fall air

there are poems
in the clouds and
sunrise

and light seen
on the garage
from the kitchen

and one yellow leaf
on the birch tree

there are always poems

Poems are by Ellen Grace Olinger.

Language Arts

Many of my poems are about the language arts.

pink clouds
span the horizon
seagulls take flight
stretching to read
new books

writing an essay
all I deleted
to say what I mean

turning the page
of an older book
the age in my hands

I discovered the new-for-me images at Reusable Art today.

The first is Peacock Feathers Heading.

The second is Peacock Feather Bouquet.
