Poems for Flowers

Poems from over the years

how does it stay
so regal on this day?
Queen Anne’s Lace

wearing
my old sweater
worn thin
Queen Anne’s Lace
along country roads

road work leads
to another way home
wildflowers

loved for years
and now I know your name
blue chicory

each flower
a star for a time
daylilies

clouds and yet
enough light
to fill a jam jar
with the last
of the carnations

growing older
goldenrod and roses
refreshed by rain
