Christmas Haiku by Carol Purington

First Sunday of Advent
– the single unflickering hope
of His coming

Two Advent candles
– their glow summons shepherds, magi
and me

Christmas cookie cutters
in the Christmas cookie tin
. . . a lamb, a donkey

Advent’s Third Sunday
Smoke from the blown-out candles
blurs the wall-cross

Remembering the splendor
of His birthday Star
– this longest night

In their flames
the brightness of His rising:
four Advent candles

Old red stocking
– its toes frayed thin by the fragrance
of years of oranges

Photo Challenge: Temporary

Temporary – The colors of Lake Michigan are always changing, and the lake levels over time.  The perennials also show change, as they grow, bloom, and fade.  Rest.  Bloom again.
