barge on the horizon

barge on the horizon . . .
       disappearing . . .
              the life I left

I’m rereading autumn issues of Time Of Singing from past years.  This morning I am reading the October 1997 issue (Volume 24, Number 2).  It includes this haiku.  Charles A. Waugaman was the Editor then, and Lora H. Zill was the Managing Editor.  Lora has been Editor for many years now.

D. Claire Gallagher, Editor, selected this haiku for the Members’ Anthology 2000, Haiku Society of America.  The book is called Crinkled Sunshine.

I still love seeing the barges on Lake Michigan, especially with their lights, on long winter nights. I’m sure the lights along the shore are nice for those working on the barges as well.
